The exposed brick building was constructed between 1954 and 1957 according to plans by Robert Vorhoelzer. The larger-than-life statue of the parish patron saint on the right-hand wall of the choir is the work of Regensburg sculptor Max Reiger from 1964. 2.5 metres high, the figure is made of two cubic metres of lime wood. The choir is dominated by a wooden sculpture of the resurrected Christ. This dates back to 1986.
