Foundation stone laid in 1467, ribbed vaults completed in 1502, tower raised at the end of the 16th century and in 1688, current spire from 1867. Designed as a three-aisled hall church with choir aisle. 13 round columns, net vault with rich star-shaped figuration, ten side chapels (with late Gothic and Baroque frescoes), two-storey sacristy.

The interior was baroquised around 1680, then regostised in 1864/68 and 1880/84. 1969/77 comprehensive overall restoration.

Noteworthy furnishings: larger-than-life crucifix (the so-called Colossal Lord of Dingolfing) from 1522, the life-size wooden figures of the two church patrons at the side of the high altar from around the same time, late Gothic stained glass depicting the birth of Christ in St Michael’s Chapel from around 1530; sculptures, paintings and funerary monuments from the 15th/18th century; Baroque sacristy furnishings. The building is one of the most important sacred buildings of the late Gothic period in Bavaria.
