The only remaining city gate from the 15th century, located at the eastern end of Marienplatz. The coat of arms of the town of Dingolfing can be seen on the outside.

After passing through the Wollertor gate, you find yourself on Marienplatz and thus in the area of the fortified “Lower Town”. Older views show a gabled roof, while the present stepped gable appears to have been added in the 19th century. The name of the gate is derived from the district within the old city ring. The wool and cloth makers’ trade was practised around this square.

These also reached their wool hangers outisde the city wall through the city gate, which were used by the wool and cloth makers to display and hang out their products. The Wollertor housed the night wachtman’s official residence.
