The Storchenturm is a landmark of the town of Dingolfing. It rises at the western end of the Upper Town. Storks nested on the tower until 1797 but the last stork’s nest was removed by the town in 1815. The last stork was sighted on the tower in 1819. In 1862, the tower was repaired and decorated with a neo-Gothic façade; it has had its current apperance since 1905. The Storchenturm is the property of the Free State of Bavaria.
