The Stinkerturm is now part of the Dingolfing Museum and was privately owned from the middle of the 19th century until 1997. It is a semi-circular brick tower with a conical roof made of wooden tiles (dating from the 15th century) and was part of the medieval town fortifications. The Stinkerturm was used as a municipal detention centre for male prisoners. Its name probably goes back to the bad-smelling prison cells.
